CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced the first Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Wednesday, December 10 for the indoor season. High Point University's
Cole Wilson was named the Men's Field Athlete of the Week after competing in the heptathlon at the Liberty Kickoff this past weekend.
Wilson collected 5,723 points for first place in the field, just 49 points less than what he posted a season ago at the Liberty Kickoff in 2024 – which is still a facility record at the Liberty Indoor Track Complex with 5,772 points. Wilson placed first in three of the events including the pole vault (4.82m), long jump (7.31m) and the shot put (14.73m). His long jump was a new personal best mark.
The Panthers will have a month off of competition before returning from Christmas break to compete at Tryon Intercollegiate Opener in Tryon, N.C. on January 10. This is the same facility that the Big South Indoor Championships will be held at in February.
