BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The High Point University baseball team fell to Gardner-Webb in game two on Friday afternoon, 8-3.

Brett Wozniak took the mound for start No. 13 on the year. He finished with throwing five innings, allowing five runs, on seven hits, striking out five batters.
The Runnin' Bulldogs took an early lead with a two-run homer in the bottom of the first inning. Wozniak got himself out of the inning on a looking strikeout for his second of the outing.
Wozniak settled down and retired the side in order in the second inning.
The Panthers then tied it at two in the third inning as
Cael Chatham singled over the glove of the second basemen to score two runners.
Through three innings in Boiling Springs, the Runnin' Bulldogs and the Panthers were tied at two.
Wozniak picked up his fifth strikeout in the bottom of the fourth before GWU jumped back out in front, 3-2, off a bloop single scoring the runner from second.
The Bulldogs walked the bases loaded in the top of the fifth as
Brayden Simpson stood on third,
Konni Durschlag on second, and
Peyton Carr on first. The GWU reliever struck out
Adam Stuart to retire the side unscathed.
GWU extended their lead in the bottom of the fifth to 5-2 with a two-run homer over the center field wall. But
Charlie Klingler cut their lead with a solo home run in the top of the sixth to make it a 5-3 ball game.
Dalton Olsovsky took the mound out of the bullpen in the sixth inning. He shut down the Runnin' Bulldogs in order as he struck out the side.
Gardner-Webb extended their lead to 6-3 with no outs in the seventh with an RBI single by Ethan Liao. With the bases loaded, Peter Capobianco drew a walk and the seventh GWU run crossed the plate.
Christian Baker relieved Olsovsky in the seventh with one out and the bases loaded in a 7-3 ball game. Mark Black grounded out to Baker but that brought in another run before the second out was recorded. Baker got the third out to bring the Panthers to the plate in the eighth.
The Panthers got nothing to go in the eighth inning as Baker also threw a shutout inning. Gardner-Webb finished the game as they turned another double play to end it and take the 8-3 victory on Friday afternoon.
