HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point men's and women's track and field teams hosted the final home meet of the season at Vert Stadium. A handful of athletes competed on Sunday in the Dani Palooza Last Chance meet, for a chance to make the NCAA Regionals.
In the men's pole vault, three vaulters placed second through fourth as
Reid Holloway cleared 5.15 meters,
Cole Wilson 4.85m and
Maxwell Robinson 4.70m. Wilson recorded a personal best.
Brandon Lewis threw a 47.73m throw in the men's hammer to record a new personal best, he later placed third in the men's javelin with a 53.97m throw. In the men's shot put,
Chris Van Niekerk earned another first place finish after throwing 17.88m on his first attempt. He also threw in the men's discus and placed third with a 51.28m throw.
In the men's high jump,
Alex Constantinou finished second after clearing 1.98m.
In the men's running events, three Panthers finished top three in the 1500m race.
Graham Ferguson recorded a 3:43.97 time,
Jason Thomson a 3:46.08 time and
Avery Crowell a 3:59.33.
Later in the 11m dash,
Tyneilus Morrow crossed the finish line in third with a 10.59 time.
Isaac McGinnis also competed in the 100m and clocked a 10.83 for sixth place.
In the women's events,
Letizia Jessica Marsico competed in multiple throwing events. She placed first in the discus throwing 47.00m and second in the shot-put throwing 12.87m.
Amanda Scattergood also competed in the discus and placed second with a 45.45m throw.
Lindsay Cooper ran in the 100m hurdles and clocked a 14.14 time to take first place. Dae' Nitra also finished first in the 400m dash and ran a 54.67.
Brianna Malone competed in the 800m event and ran a 2:09.23 for second place.
