Head Coach Joey Hammond: "Always good to get a win on the road and we were able to do so while also getting a couple guys some well-deserved rest. I really liked how our offense settled in and trusted that good results would come with consistent approaches. Was great to see the two freshman pitchers (Olsovsky and Tuttoilmondo) get us six strong innings combined. They are really beginning to develop and be weapons for us! Congrats to Cael (Chatham) for recording his 300th career hit. Now we set our sights on a quick turnaround back on the road tomorrow."
Dalton Olsovsky got the nod for his fourth start of the year. He was solid for three innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out two batters.
High Point jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as
Sean McGee poked his first home run as a Panther.
In the fourth,
Miggy Echazarreta started a six-run inning for the Panthers as he singled to right field scoring
Charlie Klingler. McGee then tallied another RBI as he singled through the left side scoring
Brayden Simpson.
Konni Durschlag kept it going with a double down the left field line to earn himself an RBI. Three more runners would come home to score.
Cael Chatham sent a SAC fly to right field, then
Peyton Carr hit an infield single, and the sixth run crossed off a Klingler single up the middle. High Point held a commanding 7-0 lead after four innings.
Joey Tuttoilmondo relieved Olsovsky in the fourth as he pitched three solid innings, just allowing one run, on one hit, striking out four batters.
HPU extended their lead in the fifth as McGee tallied his third RBI of the night as he sent a SAC fly to right field as Echazarreta tagged from third. On a 3-2 count, Chatham drove a single through the right side for his 300
th career hit as two runners came home to score. HPU extended their lead to 10-0.
Queens found themselves on the board as Keanu Spenser knocked one over the wall for a solo shot in the sixth.
Adam Stuart with two outs sent a ball over the wall in left field for a two-run shot and his seventh long ball of the season.
David Keith came in to pitch the seventh for the Panthers. Queens hit Keith a tad as they recorded three runs in the bottom half of the inning. High Point still led 12-4.
In the eighth, Simpson crossed the plate for the 13
th run on a wild pitch by the Queens reliever.
