GENEVA, N.Y. – The High Point men's lacrosse team made the trip up to New York to take on the Statesmen of Hobart College for the second time in program history. In the Panthers first visit to David J. Urick Stadium, HPU picked up the win with an 11-10 victory.

High Point punched first with an early goal in the first two minutes of action. Picking up the ground ball off a rebound from a shot by
Jack Sawyer,
Brayden Mayea scored the first goal for the Panthers.
Hobart netted two goals to take a one-goal lead before Sawyer and Mayea connected on a pass to tie the game at two all. In the last 30 seconds of the first quarter, the Statesmen found the back of the net to go up 3-2.
The Statesmen took their largest lead of the game in the second, going up 4-2. High Point strung together three goals before the end of the half to take back the lead, 5-4.

Ryan Hynes and Sawyer all contributed to the three goals.
High Point kept the momentum going into the second half with a man-up goal in the first 30 seconds of the quarter.
Jack VanOverbeke found
Isiah Moran-Weekes camping out in the middle for a quick turnaround goal.
Collin Cooke and
Ian Cann scored in back-to-back possessions to give High Point its largest lead of the game at 8-4 after going on a 4-0 run to stretch the lead.
At the end of the third quarter, Lutzel and Cann each netted their second goals of the game. HPU led 10-6 at the end of the third.
The Statesmen were not giving up on the game and battled back in the fourth quarter. Hobart scored two goals to close the gap to two but a solo shot from VanOverbeke kept the cushion on for the Panthers.
In the last five minutes of action, the Statesmen put the pressure on the Panthers, cutting the game to 11-10 with 48 seconds left to play. Hobart won the faceoff to start the final possession of the game, as High Points defense held strong and forced a wide shot by the statesmen in the final seconds.
