Head Coach Joey Hammond: "So proud of our guys!! What a baseball game and finish to a great weekend of baseball. We knew today would be difficult and it was.
Matt Little was incredible… 92 pitch complete game and was in control all game. We had a couple defensive miscues, but Matt picked us up and that's what winning teams do. It was tough offensively today but to get 2- 2 out RBI was huge and the difference in the game. What an at bat by
Dawson Harman to work the count and get the game winner with two strikes and two outs! We look forward to enjoying a great Easter Sunday and back at it for a tough road game Tuesday!"
Little pitched his first complete game as a Panther and earned his second win as he went nine full innings, allowing two runs, on four hits. Little got the job done only having to throw 92 total pitches.
High Point backed Little up by getting on the board first in the second inning.
Dawson Harman laid down a perfect safety squeeze bunt to get
Brayden Simpson home.
The Highlanders rallied back and put two runs up in the third and fifth innings off a fielding error in the third and a solo home run in the fifth.
Harman once again knocked in Simpson for another run to tie the game at two in the sixth as he singled up the middle with two strikes.
In the seventh, High Point took the 3-2 lead after Simpson was drilled by the pitch with bases loaded allowing
Eric Grintz to walk on home.
The Panthers went on and turned a huge 6-4-3 double play to get them out of the eighth to keep Radford from tying it up.
Little went out for the ninth and yet again put up another zero to close out the victory and the weekend sweep.
Up Next: High Point heads to Boone, N.C. for a mid-week matchup with App State on Tuesday, April 2. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
