Site: Williard Stadium
Score: High Point 25, Richmond 5
Records: High Point (9-14, 1-2), Richmond (9-14, 0-0)

Head Coach Joey Hammond: "It feels good to secure a series win on a Saturday. It gives you an opportunity to finish it off the weekend but it's not going to be easy for us. We showed up here today and knew it was going to be a day where there was going to be some offense involved. I'm very proud of our guys being consistent up and down the lineup. I can't say enough things about our bullpen today, they did a fantastic job."

Brett Wozniak got the start as he would last 3.2 innings, allowing five runs, on eight hits, striking out three batters.

Richmond got on the board first in the first inning off solo home run to left center and then another RBI in the second off a bunt.

High Point answered right away with a massive 12 run second inning. It all started with Brayden Simpson with a single through the right-side scoring Adam Stuart. Then Frank Kelly clobbered his first career home run in grand slam fashion as he lifted the Panthers to an early 5-2 lead.

Charlie Klingler kept it going as he doubled to center field scoring two runners. In an inning the Panthers batted around the order, Simpson came up to bat as he soared one to right field as it hopped over the wall for an RBI ground rule double. Miggy Echazarreta walked in a run as well as Kelly getting another two RBIs in the inning. HPU led 12-2 after 2 innings.

The Spiders tallied three more runs in the third off a three-run home run to bring it to a 12-5 ball game.

In the fourth inning, the Panthers busted it open once again with a five-run inning. HPU went back-to-back-to-back with home runs from Cael Chatham, Eric Grintz, and Stuart.

Simpson and Echazarreta both crossed the plate in the fifth off wild pitches. Xavier Cumbee hit his first home run of the season in the seventh extending the lead to 21-5.

In the eighth, Matthew Martinez jacked one over the fence for his first of the season as well as three more scored. Oliver Cush grounded out to shortstop to bring home High Point's 25th run of the ballgame.

Joey Tuttoilmondo pitched the ninth to close the game out and secure the series win for HPU.

Dalton Olsovsky earned his first career win after coming in to relieve Wozniak in the fourth inning. Olsovsky pitched 2.1 innings, allowing no runs, on two hits, striking out four batters.

Up Next: High Point will play game three of the series tomorrow March 24 at 1 p.m.
