Former Panthers Chasing a 2025 LPGA Tour Card

Mobile, Ala. — Former Panthers Samantha Vodry and Sarah Kahn will compete in the LPGA Q-Series Final Qualify Tournament from December 5-9, chasing a 2025 LPGA Tour Card at the Magnolia Grove Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail in Mobile, Alabama.

"Good luck to Samantha and Sarah as they venture into the final stage of the LPGA Q-Series," High Point University Women's Golf Head Coach Lyndsey Hunnell said. "They were both enormous standouts of our program and left great legacies behind. Both their names are decorated amongst numerous program records/tournament wins. In our locker room, their names are numerous across our record boards. Our current team looks at them daily to help fuel them to one day have their own names up there. They've left a massive impact on our program, bringing HPU Women's Golf to the next level; I can't wait to watch where their golf takes them on the professional scale!"

The standout HPU women's golfers Vodry and Kahn qualified for the final round after their performance at the LPGA's qualifying school in Venice, Florida, in October. The top 35 from the tournament advanced to the Final Qualifying Tournament.

The final Qualifying Tournament is a 90-hole tournament at the Magnolia Grove Course over five days in Mobile, Alabama. Players who finish at least 72 holes will get full Epson Tour Status. After the five rounds, the top 25 finishers and ties will receive LPGA status in Category 14.

The duo is tied for career wins in program history (4).

The tournament will be five rounds instead of their usual six. They will start with 99 athletes and begin making cuts to get their top 65 after 72 holes. The course is divided between the Crossing and Fall courses as the golfers will play on each course twice. Everyone will get the opportunity for four rounds, but only the top 65 will play the final round.

Kahn graduated in 2023 and won four tournaments, including the Kingsmill Intercollegiate, Grandover Fall Classic and the River Landing Classic. She became the Big South Individual Medalist during her final year at High Point. She punched a ticket to the NCAA Regionals as an individual, becoming the second HPU player to ever compete at Regionals. She placed T6 overall for the best finish in program history. Her career bests were 18 Holes (64), 36 Holes (70-64), and  54 Holes (69-70-64, -13). Kahn holds the lowest single season soring average (2023: 73.24) and lowest career scoring average (74.72) and was the 2023 Big South Woman of the Year and 2023 Big South Golfer of the Year

"I'm excited about the opportunity to compete with such high-level golfers," Kahn said. "This is the most prestigious event I've played in, so it's cool how much I'm learning by being around these girls. I'm looking forward to seeing how my skills compare once the week is over and learning what I can improve on."

Vodry graduated in 2021 and was the school leader in Eagles, totaling 10. Vodry was the Big South Championhsip Individual Medlaist. She the first golfer in program history to make it to an NCAA Regional. At her time at HPU, she won the Georgia State Invitational and the ECU Easter Invitational, tied for medalist honors with a 214 at the Nittany Lion Invitational. Her career bests were 18 Holes (67), 36 Holes (70-69, -5), 54 Holes (70-69-72, -5).

"With this being an essential and long week of golf, it will be about showing patience and playing smartly," Vodry said. "I've got a solid game plan for how to attack the courses, and I have to rely on all the prep I've done coming into this week and remain confident and well-rested. The courses are going to be a great test this week. You can't fake your way around them. You've got to have all your ducks in a row to score well. With potential rain in the forecast, adapting to the changing course conditions will also be important, and the emphasis will be on having patience this week."
