Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "It was nice to be able to get everybody in the game today and see what some players can do that didn't get the opportunity on Monday night. I still think we were sloppy in some areas. Letting people catch and shoot threes, but our girls did do a good job of turning them over. They had 32 turnovers, so I'm happy with that. We met a goal with that, but Davidson is going to be a tough game on Sunday, and we got to get better at a lot of things for them.
High Point was highlighted by senior transfer,
Lauren Scott as she led the floor with 14 points for HPU tonight. Everyone that was available for tonight's game got in and scored at least two points. The HPU bench showed out by putting up 52 of the 100 points scored in tonight's content.
It started early as High Point was quick out of the gates to score and take advantage of turnovers.
Jaleesa Lawrence got it started with an easy layup followed up by a three pointer from Scott. With about a minute and a half left in the quarter,
Nakyah Terrell gave HPU its biggest lead as she drained both foul shots to go up 11 points. A good three pointer by Anna Hager closed out the first quarter, 21-10.
The second quarter is when HPU broke things open and ran away with the game. Scott scored 11 points in the second to help High Point jump out to a 39-point lead after the 10 minutes of play.
Dom Nesland,
Aaliyah Collins, and
Chana Paxixe also contributed with a few points off the bench. At the half the Panthers were up, 59-20, after shooting an impressive 71% from beyond the arc.
Peyton Gerdes in the third quarter was impressive as she knocked down a few threes and some easy layups. As well as Nesland who saw her fair share of shots beyond the arc fall. HPU was out front, 82-38, heading into the fourth quarter.
The fourth quarter saw
Audrey Meyers get in and score her first two points in the Purple and White to help extend the Panther lead. Gerdes, Nesland, and
Dakota Phillips all hit some shots to eventually score 100 points to lead them to a Thursday night victory.
Lawrence led HPU with seven rebounds, while Hager had six, and
Nevaeh Zavala and
Olivia Medford both had five off the boards. Gerdes and Nesland both put up 11-point games as Lawrence and Collins had an even 10 points in tonight's contest.
