CHARLOTTE, N.C. —  For the second time this fall season, High Point University swept the Big South Conference weekly awards as Ella Perna took home Big South Golfer of the Week and Ambre Matlega was named Big South Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Thursday afternoon.

Perna is awarded Big South Golfer of the Week for the first time this season after her performance at the UNCG Collegiate, where she led the Panthers to win their second fall tournament. She had an impressive outing, showcasing her skills with a stellar 6-under-par 66 in round two and making six birdies for a new collegiate low score. She shot 5-under with rounds of 70, 66, and 75 to earn her best finish of the fall in second place.

Matlega received her first Big South Conference weekly award after her play at the UNCG Collegiate. Matlega made her way into the starting lineup and had a strong start in round one with four birdies as she carded an even-par 72. She continued her solid play, beating her round-one score with a 1-under-par 71 for a new collegiate-low score in round two. She capped the tournament with a 73, which gave the freshman her first top-5 finish.
