EARLYSVILLE, VA. — The High Point University women's cross country team made a strong showing at the Panorama Farms Invitational hosted by the University of Virginia on Saturday morning.
Charli Montalvo led the Panthers with an impressive sixth-place finish overall, helping the team secure a fourth-place finish in the competition.
Head Coach Remy Tamer: "The women ran a strong race today. We are missing a few key individuals from our starting lineup however the women stepped up today to play their roles and helped the team finish just outside of 3rd place against some solid programs. Big shout out to
Alice Jones and
Shauna Skow for challenging themselves and putting together clutch performances for the team.
Charli Montalvo once again showed her competitive toughness and proved that she is here to stay as one of the best runners in our region.
Alyssa Hendrix and
Brianna Malone have been consistent in their commitment to excellence all season and they have been working on something big for the championship season. Those two will have the opportunity to seal the deal for this team in the coming weeks and I can't wait to watch them do their thing. I will bet on them every time."
Montalvo continues to impress, securing her second consecutive week as the top finisher for the Panthers with a stellar time of 20:48.9, marking her best finish of the season in sixth place overall. This also marks her third week finishing in the top 25.
Brianna Malone and
Alyssa Hendrix showed great teamwork, finishing second and third for the Panthers with times of 21:11.1 and 21:19.9, respectively. Their collaborative effort helped them both secure spots in the top 20.
Alice Jones was the fourth Panther to cross the finish line, clocking in at 21:33.1, a season best, surpassing her previous time at the Paul Short Run.
Shauna Skow completed the team's scoring with a time of 22:15.7, while freshmen
