LYNCHBURG, Va. – The High Point University men's track and field team posted six individual top-five finishes at the Liberty Twilight on Wednesday night.
Jonny House finished 12
th in the invite section of the 800m run in 1:52.90 while
Reilly Mazzetti was 16
th in the open section (2:08.19).
Graham Ferguson finished in the top-10 of the 1,500m run with a time of 3:49.05 while
Othmane El Gharissi (3:53.63) and
Jake Tarosky (3:55.22) were 24
th and 25
th, respectively.
Jake Fiorillo was 35
th in 4:00.18.
Three Panther pole vaulters finished in the top-five of the event.
Jackson Tuomey led the way with a third-place finish, clearing 4.96m, while
Reid Holloway and
Nick Lourenco tied for fourth at 3.81m.
Adam Craig was 12
th (4.51m) and
Maxwell Robinson was 13
th (4.51m) as well.
Chris Van Niekerk improved his season-best toss in the shot put by one centimeter (17.92m) to take runner-up in the event while also claiming fifth in the discus with a heave of 55.64m.
Alex Hoffman finished as the runner-up at the hammer throw with a mark of 56.18m.
Up Next: The Panthers look to spend the next week recovering for the 2023 Big South Conference Outdoor Championships. As the defending champions, HPU would be looking for its third-straight team title.
