Buies Creek, N.C. - High Point played the first of three games against Campbell on Friday, trying to pick up their 14th win of the season. Gus Hughes took the mound for the Panthers on Friday night, in the matchup versus the #11 Fighting Camels, throwing five innings sitting down seven batters.

Gus Hughes took the mound for the Panthers on Friday night in a matchup with the #11 Campbell Camels. The game started with an unfortunate collision in the outfield, which led to Campbell scoring a run.
High Point wasn't down for long though, as the Panthers came back with a three run second inning, with Cole Singsank driving in the leading run, and then Brett Ahalt adding in a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1.
In the third inning, a
Cael Chatham single brought
Javon Fields home from second, which stretched High Point's lead to 4-1. With the bases loaded later in the inning,
Miggy Echazarreta drove in two runs with a shot to left field, extending the Panthers' lead.
In the fourth, the Panthers added on their seventh straight run of the game with a
Trenton Pallas double. In the bottom of the inning, Campbell added one run off of a solo home run.
Patrick Matthews drove in a run in the top of the fifth inning to give High Point an 8-2 lead. Campbell added three runs in the bottom of the fifth to cut the High Point lead to three.
Braden Halladay came in to pitch the sixth inning. The Panthers struggled in the seventh, as Campbell brought the High Point lead down to two runs.
Sam Garcia entered the game for Halladay. A three run home run gave Campbell the lead late, 9-8. They tacked on one more before the Panthers brought in
Patrick Libby.
Two hit batters with the bases loaded put the Panthers behind by four. Campbell added another four, giving them a 16-8 lead.
Adam Stuart scored on a sacrifice fly, but unfortunately for the Panthers, they couldn't come back in the top of the ninth.
Chatham and Ahalt both finsihed the night with two hits to lead the Panthers, including a double and an RBI while Echazarreta led the way with three RBI.
