Huge Road Win for Panthers

HPU Defeats Presbyterian, 16-12

CLINTON, S.C.  — The Panthers were playing prime High Point University women's lacrosse on Saturday afternoon, tallying a huge conference win against the Presbyterian Blue Hose, 16-12. Mena Loescher recorded her 100th career assist, while Kay Rosselli collected her 100th career point and Jordan Miles had a huge outing with four goals.

Coach Boswell: "Im happy to get another road win this week with this team. There was no shortage of adversity throughout the game, and I'm so proud of my team for rising above it and finding a way to get it done. We had several contributors, but the area that stands out for me is the draw unit. Mandy and Emma worked so well together, and the others that stepped in contributed with those two, I'm really proud of that today!"

Mandy Brockamp fired first, putting in a goal within the first minute of play followed by a top corner snipe from Espirit Cha. 
 

After a Presbyterian response, freshman attacker Shannon Smith muscled her way around her defender to net another. 
 

High Point's assist-game was right on target in front of the crease, with four of their first half-goals scored off assists. Rosselli's goal was one of those, as she made a hard cut through the eight-meter to start her scoring day.
 

Brockamp assisted Miles to put HPU up one goal late in the second and then Brockamp scored another goal of her own off a gorgeous assist from Emma Nowakowski. 
 

Rosselli made a shake-and-bake move through the middle to put one in the back of the net, Miles scored her second of the afternoon, and Nowakowski and Loescher each put in two more for the Panthers to give them a 10-8 advantage at the half. 

Two more goals by Miles and another Brockamp goal secured her a hat-trick and a four-goal deficit. A few scoreless minutes was ended by none other than Mena Loescher with five seconds left in the third quarter. 

Loescher tallied her third of the night in the fourth quarter and Grace Bruce added her name to the scoring list to seal the deal. 
 

Eight Panthers added points in the win. Miles led the way with four goals, Loescher tallied three goals and one assist to give herself 100 total career assists, and Brockamp also added a hat trick in goals. Not only did Brockamp contribute attacking, but she also set a season-high 13 draw controls in the center circle. Rosselli ended the afternoon with two goals and an assist to get to 100 career points and Bruce, Nowakowski, Smith, and Cha all each added a goal. 




Ava Scudillo led the defense with four caused turnovers and Taylor Suplee made six stops for High Point. 

UP NEXT: The Panthers are back at Vert to face the Wofford Terriers Saturday, April 22nd. The game begins at noon.
