Coach Boswell: "I am really proud of the girls tonight as that was a tough 48 hours for my team. Mena has been working so hard on her discipline and she is such an amazing player holding herself to a consistent standard leading the offense. We missed Emma (Genovese) and just having her out on the field makes me so happy. I am so proud of her effort making contributions on the draw circle and putting the ball away late in the game. Kay is also a true two-way midfielder and she is doing everything for us right now. She is the glue that holds us all together."
For the 13th time this season, Mena Loescher tallied a multi-point game for High Point. Loescher opened her nine-point scoring night with the first goal of the contest, followed by a Genovese free-position conversion.
Rosselli started her career-night of scoring with a goal off an assist from Cavallaro to make it 3-1 early. With just under five minutes left in the first quarter, the Panthers went on a five-goal scoring run to extend the lead to seven goals with contributions from Loescher, Cavallaro, Cha, Rosselli, and Nowakowski.
After a few goals from the Lancers, Rosselli secured a first-half hat trick and Cha put in her second to make it 10-3. A yellow card on Longwood created the perfect opportunity for Loescher to net a man-up goal going into the half.
After a dominant first half, the deficit was six, as the Panthers led 11-5.
Loescher and Bruce opened the third quarter scoring with back-to-back goals. Longwood cut the lead to four late in the third, but High Point maintained the momentum pushing on their end with another Rosselli goal, which marked a career-high four for the junior.
Grace Bruce dodged through the lane to score first in the fourth and then Loescher assisted three more goals from Cavallaro and Genovese. Esprit Cha got in on the fourth quarter action tallying a hat-trick for herself.
Rosselli contributed a career-high four goals for the Panthers tonight, marking her sixth consecutive scoring game. Genovese was back and better than ever adding three draw controls and tying a season-high four goals as well. Loescher repeated her first-game style play, tying her season-high nine points off of four goals and five assists. Loescher is now only one assist away from 100 career assists. Cavallaro had a four-point night and Nowakowski and Cha each had three-point nights. Freshman Rachelle Gauthier also tallied three draw controls in the center circle.
On the other end, Sami Macdonald scooped up two ground balls and had two caused turnovers. Suplee added five saves in cage to blow past her overall 600-save career mark between Penn State and High Point.
"Taylor has earned it and she deserves it. That recognition is awesome. We are so grateful that she chose High Point to finish out her career" said Coach Boswell.
Caitlyn Baehr also had six draw controls and one caused turnover to help lift the Panthers to the win.
UP NEXT: The Panthers remain on the road as they travel to Clinton, S.C. Saturday, April 15th to take on Presbyterian. The game begins at 1:00 P.M.
