"I'm excited for the UNCG event as we are coming in as the former champs from last year," HPU Head Coach Lyndsey Hunnell said. "The entire team is going to be able to compete in it this week, which will be great to see how they all do in a tournament setting. Another plus is getting to sleep in our own beds since we are only 20 minutes from the course. Since it's our closest event of the year, I believe we will have a lot of family coming in to watch which will be awesome for the girls!"

HPU competed at UNC Greensboro's tournament last year and saw great success. Now-graduated student-athlete Sarah Kahn was the medalist and led the Panthers to a first-place finish. Assisting Kahn were returners Vynie Chen, Ella Perna, Darianys Guzman, and Danielle Suh, all of whom will participate in the tournament this season.

High Point's lineup for this year will include transfer graduate student Julia McLaughlin, returners Perna and Suh, freshman Anna Howerton, and transfer graduate student Maddie Hensley, who will be making her debut in Purple & White. Competing as individuals in the tournament will be returners Guzman, Chen, and Ana-Elena Kusters

"I have high expectations for the team since we are so close to home," Howerton said. "I know that if all of us have our A-games this next coming week that we can pull out a win and have our best golf at the table."

Last time High Point hit the course was in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. McLaughlin led the Panthers, finishing in the top 10 with an even 216 score. Perna was second on the board for HPU, shooting a total of 222, which led to a T21 finish. Howerton placed T40 with a 6-over 228 score. Suh and Chen rounded out the Panthers' lineup with a T50 and T85 finish, respectively. Suh carded a 231 total, while Chen scored 245.

Following the Panther's performance in Colorado, McLaughlin was awarded Big South Golfer of the Week, while Howerton garnered her first Big South Freshman Golfer of the Week honor.

"No, I didn't expect it," Howerton said. "I knew going in that there was a pretty big field to compete against and just to have Freshman of the Week has definitely shown that my progress and my game is moving in the right direction."
