The first two sets were not easy for the Panthers. Keeping the game within a point or two, High Point did not take a larger lead until 22-17. Back-to-back errors by the Spartans and a service from
Jordyn Schilling contributed to the stretch in the lead. Maberry secured the match point in set one with a kill to move on to set two.
The Panthers held a steady lead through the first half of the second set but remaining within reach, USC Upstate tied the set at 14 all. The Spartans took their first lead of the night following an HPU attack error at 16-15. The two teams exchanged leads through the final 15 points of the game. High Point put down two kills in the final three points of the set, one from Maberry and one from
Christine Graf after being tied at 22 all. A service ace from Maberry gave the Panthers their second win of the night.
Set three was a breeze for High Point. An early 5-0 run set the tone and made it hard for the Spartans to bounce back. The Panthers pushed to their largest lead of the night at 14-5, and USC Upstate had nothing in response.
Ella Grasson came in and served up the final points of the match. She immediately made an impact with a service ace on her first initial serve which laid the foundation for the Panthers final two points of the set to secure the sweep.
