HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point volleyball team kept the streak alive on Saturday afternoon with another 3-0 sweep over UNC Asheville. The Panthers advance to 5-0 in conference without dropping a single set to a Big South opponent.
The highlight of the day was
Dylan Maberry achieving a career milestone with her 1000th kill of her collegiate career. Since putting on the High Point jersey during her sophomore season, she has hit 959 kills of the 1000 with the Panthers. She led the match with 13 kills going 13-for-30 for a .267 hit percentage.

It did not take long for the Panthers to get the action rolling in the opening set. Taking off on a 6-2 lead, HPU set up all options on the front row, putting the ball down from the outside, middle and right-side spots. Four straight errors by UNC Asheville helped extend High Points lead to 11-6.
Anna Wilson and
BayLea Sparks tag teamed the middle slot with a couple hits mixed in on the slide for Wilson.
After taking a 22-13 advantage over the Bulldogs, UNC Asheville responded with a 6-0 run to close the gap to 22-19. HPU regained focus and finished the set with two kills from Maberry and a service ace from
Kea Whillock, for a 25-19 win.
The Bulldogs took their first lead of the match early in the second set. High Point did not get rattled and strung together a 6-1 run to tie the game at 14-14. During the run, Maberry secured her eighth kill of the day for her 1000th career kill from the outside.
Keeping it interesting at 20-19 Panthers, a smart play from
Allie Gray sparked the finish for HPU in the second set. High Point took the second set 25-20, making for the closest set of the day.
The Panthers did not play around in the third set.
Jayde Shelton dominated on the right side, knocking down four of the teams 13 kills within the set. Adding to her kills, Shelton stayed bouncy on the front line picking up a block assist with
Eve Wilson. The 19-7 lead was no match for the Bulldogs as HPU went on to finish the set with a 25-14 victory.
Jordyn Schilling served up five service aces, tying her season-high to lead the team, while Gray also lead the team with 20 assists.
