CHARLESTON, S.C. – High Point and Charleston Southern competed in Big South play on Saturday afternoon. The Panthers cruised to a 3-0 victory, picking up the team's eighth sweep of the season.

High Point made an early statement in the opening set. Big hits from
BayLea Sparks,
Eve Wilson and
Dylan Maberry helped the Panthers to an 8-3 lead. Sparks continued to dominate on the front line collecting three kills and a block to take a nine-point lead at 16-7. Sparks solidified the first win with back-to-back kills.
The second set was a closer battle between the Panthers and Buccaneers. Tying the game at nine all, Sparks kept HPU on top with a powerful kill over to CSU's side of the court. Multiple errors by Charleston Southern helped boost High Point to a 17-12 lead. Coming out of a time out, the Buccaneers picked up two quick points to make it 17-14 but the Panthers pushed on to take an identical score as set one, 25-17.
The first 13 points of the final set for High Point witnessed a combination of errors by the Buccaneers as HPU had scored eight of the team's 13 points off CSU's errors. Sparks earned her tenth kill of the game in the mix. A 5-0 run by the Panthers extended the lead to 18-12, forcing Charleston Southern to take the team's second time out of the set.
