High Point opened the first set on fire. Strolling to a 17-6 lead, the Panthers knocked in seven kills to the Bulldogs' three with the help from multiple front-line hitters. UNC Asheville strung together four points at the end of the set, but HPU cruised to the 25-10 win.
The Bulldogs came out in the second set with a different approach. UNC Asheville took their first lead of the match at 4-3 but the Panthers didn't stay behind for long. Battling back and forth through the set, a solid dig from
Jordyn Schilling created an opportunity for Hawkins to set Maberry for the 23-20 lead late in the set. Two errors from the Bulldogs led to HPU's 25-21 win.
The third set did not get off to the start that the Panthers wanted. Three kills by UNC Asheville and two errors from High Point gave the Bulldogs their largest lead thus far in the match at 7-3. Going down by seven points, the Panthers fought back to a one-point game at 20-21. A 4-0 run gave High Point the lead back at 24-23. A service error tied the set at 24 all, before big time kills from
Jayde Shelton and Maberry finished the set, 26-24.
