CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University's Anna Howerton has been awarded the Big South Conference Golfer of the Week award on Thursday afternoon following a stellar performance at the UNCG Collegiate. 

Howerton led the Panthers to a first-place finish, where she helped the team break two program records en route to several individual records and garnering the tournament medalist. The freshman opened the tournament by breaking HPU's low opening-round record with a 6-under 66, which previously stood at 5-under 67. Howerton's first-round score was also the freshman's collegiate low round. Next, Howerton broke HPU's 36-hole record by shooting 11-under 133. The record was initially 5-under 139.

Howerton rounded out the tournament by breaking High Point's 54-hole record of 13-under 203, which the freshman broke with a 15-under 201. The freshman's astounding program-best 54 hole record led the team in breaking multiple records: 36-hole record which now stands at an even 576, while the record previously stood at 4-over 580, and the 54-hole record, which was previously 5-over 869 until the team finished the tournament with an incredible score of 6-under 858.
