ASHEVILLE, N.C. – For the fourth-straight game three players scored in double figures for the High Point University women's basketball team.
Jordan Edwards scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the first quarter on 3-of-4 shooting from deep while
Claire Wyatt added 14 points and
Jenson Edwards chipped in 12.
Skyler Curran posted game-highs in rebounds (9) and assists (5).

The Panthers jumped out to an early lead and
Jordan Edwards was feeling it early, sinking a three-pointer from the top of the key within the first 30 seconds of play. After a Bulldog layup, Edwards added two free throws and
Skyler Curran buried a triple to give HPU the 8-2 lead less than three minutes into the game. High Point also added an 11-2 run midway through the quarter with five points from
Jenson Edwards and another two from
Jordan Edwards.
Jordan Edwards also hit triples on back-to-back possessions while
Nakyah Terrell added a layup of her own to take the 27-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. Edwards was 3-of-4 from deep in the period with a season-high 13 points.
While Asheville started the second quarter on a 14-5 run to pull back within 34-26, HPU strung together a 7-0 run with a three-pointer from
Callie Scheier and layups from Terrell and
Shakira Baskerville. The Panthers held the double-digit lead at half, 41-30, while shooting 55 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from range.
The Bulldogs continued the pressure in third quarter, holding HPU to just 10 points in the quarter and closing the period on a 10-3 run to clip HPU's lead to four points.
Claire Wyatt had a pair of layups in the period while
Jenson Edwards and Curran each buried three-pointers.
High Point responded in the fourth, going on a 6-0 run with layups from
Jordan Edwards, Baskerville, and Wyatt to force an Asheville timeout early in the final frame. Scheier also added a layup out of the timeout to extend the Panther lead back to double digits, 59-49.
Baskerville added a free throw and another layup while Wyatt and
Jenson Edwards added three combined free throws to give HPU a 14-point lead with 2:20 remaining. High Point closed the fourth quarter on a 12-4 run to hold on for the victory, moving to 2-1 in conference play.
