SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The High Point University volleyball team moved to 2-0 in Big South play with a 3-1 win over USC Upstate on Saturday afternoon.
Dylan Maberry led HPU with 13 kills while
Ally Van Eekeren passed out 28 assists.

Upstate opened up the match with a 10-5 early lead in the first set, but HPU used a 6-1 run to tie the match at 11. The Panthers took their first lead since 3-2 and extended it to 18-16 behind two service aces from Maberry.
HPU finished off the set with. 6-2 run with two kills from
Sydney Palazzolo and a block from
Lucy Dumford and Palazzolo.
The Panthers got out to a 6-5 advantage in set two with kills from
Gabrielle Idlebird, Maberry, and Palazzolo before Idlebird served up an ace.
Palazzolo teamed up with Dumford for a block before scoring the next three points for HPU with a kill and two service aces to help the Panthers to an 11-8 lead.
Upstate used a 9-2 run midway through the set to take back a 21-16 lead but High Point scored 11 of the final 15 points with three kills apiece from Maberry and Palazzolo.
The Spartans jumped out to an 8-1 lead and finished the set on an 8-2 run to take the third set.
A kill from Dumford and another Palazzolo ace put the Panthers up 10-6 early in the fourth set.
HPU posted a 5-0 run with two kills from Van Eekeren and a
Jillian Ziemba service ace to hold the 15-8 advantage.
The Panthers scored 10 of the last 12 points in the set with two aces from Van Eekeren and three Idlebird blocks.
