FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The High Point University volleyball team finished play at the Fairfield Invitational with a 3-0 sweep of the Stags. The team set a new program record for hitting percentage (.414) in a three-set match while
Gabrielle Idlebird set the program record for hitting percentage (.856) in a three-set match (minimum 10 attempts). The win also gives
Ryan Meek his 200
th career win as a head coach.

In the opening set, the Panthers hit .452 as six players finished the set with multiple kills.
Holding a slight 16-15 edge, HPU scored nine of the last 12 points in the first set to take the 25-18 win.
HPU opened the second set on a 4-0 run with two kills from
Sophee Mink and one kill each from
Gabrielle Idlebird and
Sydney Palazzolo, forcing a Fairfield timeout.
Three more Idlebird kills with another two from
Dylan Maberry gave High Point the 11-5 advantage.
Fairfield crawled back into the set to trail 23-21, but another Palazzolo kill and a Fairfield error gave HPU the 25-22 win.
Idlebird, Palazzolo, and Mink started the third set off with two kills apiece as HPU took an 8-3 lead.
HPU also used a 6-2 run in the middle of the set with kills from
Kathryn Wesolich, Maberry, and Palazzolo to extend its lead, 16-9.
The Panthers used seven kills in their final nine points to take the 25-12 win and pick up their second sweep of the weekend.
