High Point faced No. 2 Georgetown for the first time since the spring 2021 NCAA Tournament. The Panthers and the Hoyas played a close match as Georgetown drew first blood with a goal in the 58

Tony Pineda who evaded two defenders to place the equalizer in the top right corner of the goal. HPU's draw with Georgetown, who finished last season in the Final Four, is the program's and Big South Conference's highest ranked result in the Division I era.

The Panthers and the Terriers are even in the 12 matches they have played with each side posting six wins. While Wofford has won the most recent matchup, HPU had posted three consecutive wins prior.

About the Terriers
Wofford is 0-2-0 early on in the season, dropping matches to Gardner-Webb (1-0), and NC State (4-0). However, the Terriers knocked off Clemson (3-1) and Davidson (1-0) in preseason exhibition matches.

Holden Trent were named the Big South's Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively. Pineda scored the game-winning goal over Davidson and the game-tying goal at Georgetown while Trent tallied six saves.

Trent Named Preseason Keeper of the Year
Holden Trent was voted the Big South's Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year after finishing last season with the league's best save percentage (.736). Trent allowed just 19 goals while recording 53 saves.

Panthers Tabbed Second in Preseason Poll
HPU was picked second in the Big South Preseason Coaches' poll behind 2021 tournament champion, Campbell. The Panthers received one first place vote in the poll behind the Camels' eight.
