Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Pineda Goal Puts Panthers On Top

High Point, N.C. – The High Point University men's soccer team opened up the 2022 season under the lights Thursday night defeating the Wildcats of Davidson College.

Holden Trent made a huge stop with eighteen minutes remaining in the first half to go into halftime still notched at zero.

With just under four minutes left in the match, senior Tony Pineda scored a header off a corner kick from teammate Jefferson Amaya to put the Panthers up 1.

High Point's strong defense came up big to hold onto the lead and secure their first win.

"I felt like the guys came in with a real point to prove and I just thought they were dominant in every category," head coach Zach Haines said of his team after the win.

Up Next: High Point travels to the nation's capital this Sunday, August 28th to take on No. 2 Georgetown. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM.
