HIGH POINT, N.C. -- High Point University Athletic Director
Dan Hauser announced
Lyndsey Hunnell as the next head coach of the women's golf program Monday afternoon (June 27th). Hunnell becomes the sixth head coach for HPU women's golf since the program began in 2004.Â
Hunnell comes to High Point after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach at Campbell University where she helped the Fighting Camels to three-straight Big South Golf Championships in her three seasons on staff. She also helped develop the 2021 and 2022 Big South Golfers of the Year in Anna Nordfors and Emily Hawkins. As three-time Big South Champions, Hunnell joined the Fighting Camels as NCAA Regional participants as eight Campbell golfers earned WGCA Scholar All-American honors.Â
Prior to Campbell, Hunnell herself was a student-athlete at Virginia as she graduated with her undergraduate degree in 2018 before transferring to Xavier to play as a graduate transfer. She competed in the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur championship and was a member of both UVA Women's Golf ACC Championship teams in 2015 and 2016. While earning a Masters degree in sports administration from Xavier, Hunnell earned Big East All-Conference honors and lead the Musketeers to its first Big East title and NCAA Regional appearance.Â
Hunnell is from Troutville, Virginia.

What they are saying about Coach Lyndsey Hunnell
Â
"Lyndsey Hunnell has been a great asset for the Campbell University's women's golf team. Her ability to communicate with the team, to help plan practices and playing schedules and her willingness to go the extra mile to help our players be successful has been rewarded with multiple Big South Conference Championships. I know she will bring a winning tradition to High Point University."
-John Crooks, Campbell Women's Golf Head Coach
"High Point is getting a great up and coming coach in Lyndsey! Even during her playing days Lyndsey knew coaching was exactly what she wanted to do with her future. She's already had 3 different coaches to learn from since she played at Virginia, for us at Xavier, and then, was able to coach under Coach Crooks at Campbell. I could tell she soaked up a lot in one year at Xavier, so I'm confident she has made the most of these experiences and is prepared to step into a Head Coaching role! She wants to be a great coach, and it sounds like High Point is the right spot for her to begin her role as a Head Coach. Her Xavier family wishes her all the best in her new endeavor!"
-Breanna Jenco, Xavier Women's Golf Head Coach
"I have been fortunate to both coach and be a colleague of Lyndsey Hunnell. She will bring outstanding play and coaching experience to elevate High Point University's golf program. Coach Hunnell will be a great addition for the Panthers!"
-Kim Lewellen, Wake Forest Women's Golf Head Coach
