HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University Track & Field finished two days of home competition at their annual VertKlasse Meeting. One of the highlights for the Panther women this weekend was the women's pole vault in which
Sydney Horn set a school record, as well as a facility and meet record when she cleared 4.45m and won the women's elite pole vault. Horn's mark currently sits in a tie for third in the country. Another highlight for the Panther women was
Alicia Dawson's triple jump mark of 12.54m, which won the event and broke her former school record. Her mark currently sits in 18th place in the NCAA East region.
Panther Particulars
Letizia Marisco broke the school record in the women's shotput with a mark of 13.70m. Marsico finished in sixth place in the elite shot put final. Marsico also set a personal best in the women's elite discus with a collegiate personal best mark of 47.22m.
Hannah Brookover won the 1500m run with a time of 4:30.18.
Ashley Jones surged into second with the fastest final lap split in the field of 1:09.97 to finish in second place in the event with a time of 4:33.97, a personal best for her.
Sydney Bagus won the women's 3000m steeplechase with a personal best time of 10:57.57.
Franzi Jakobs finished second in the event with her personal best time of 11:11.85.
The women's 4x400m relay team of
Dae'Nitra Hester,
Nyile Facey, Abi Craig, and
Leah Bolden won the event with a season best and meet record time of 3:44.74. That mark currently sits at 28th in the NCAA East Region.
Camryn Harper won the women's 800m run with a season best time of 2:11.55.
Nyile Facey won the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 13.46.
Ebba Ahman finished in third with a season best time of 14.26. Ahman also finished in third place in the women's 400m hurdles with a collegiate best time of 1:02.14.
Hester finished in fourth place in the women's 400m run with a personal best time of 55.89. Abi Craig also finished with a personal best time of 56.84 in the event.
Lilly Wolf finished in fourth place in the women's javelin with a personal best throw of 41.44m.
Julia Newman finished in sixth place in the event with a personal best throw of 40.39m.
Liana Betts finished in sixth place in the women's discus (non-elite) with a personal best mark of 40.57m.
Kylie Skie and
Emma Grace both cleared heights of 3.35m in the women's group B pole vault – the 3.35m was a personal best for Skie.
UP NEXT
The Panthers will send the majority of their squad next week up the road to Greensboro for the Aggie Classic hosted by North Carolina A&T (April 8th-9th). Some of the Panthers will travel and compete in the Duke Invitational (April 7th-9th).
