NINETY SIX, S.C. – The High Point women's golf team's season came to a close at the Big South championships on Friday (April 15) in a head to head playoff battle against UNC Asheville. The two teams were tied for the fourth and final spot to advance to Saturday's four-team match play. Danielle Suh finished the tournament tied for second place overall.
Head Coach Alexis Bennett: "It's hard to put today into words. We obviously didn't come in as sharp as the two previous rounds which did us in, but the playoff experience we shared as a team was honestly one of the most memorable days of my career. No one expected us to be much of a factor in the conversation this week, yet we proved through all of the adversity of this season that we never, ever give up. I couldn't be more proud to be the leader of this group. Incredibly special week to share with all three of our seniors. We are obviously thrilled to be having Sarah join us again next year but I can't thank Olivia and Sophie enough for choosing HPU and their dedication to this team, especially their efforts this week. Olivia has always been a steady contributor across the board for us her entire career but the way Sophie stepped up and carried herself as this teams biggest supporter as our substitute, spoke volumes of the culture and values this program stands for and I couldn't be more proud of how she carried herself. This program is in great hands because of leadership like what we've gotten from Sarah, Olivia, and Sophie."
