Introducing Meet of Champions: The meet will include the CUSA Champion (UNC Charlotte), MEAC Champion (NC A&T), ACC Champion (Duke), ASUN Champion (Liberty), CAA Champion (Elon), and Big South Champion (HPU). This one-day meet will be conducted by NCAA rules. Championship scoring (for 5+ teams) > 10-8-6-4-2-1; Relays> 10-8-6-4-2-1. Teams may enter two relay teams with best team scoring.
How to follow the meet: The meet will be available to watch starting at 2:00pm on ESPN+. The meet will scored by Flash Results in the same fashion the NCAA Championships are. A team champion will be crowned for each gender at the end of the meet.
Three Big South Weekly Honors
Hocine Bouchrak earned Big South Track Athlete of the Week. Bouchrak finished in second place in the men's 3000m steeplechase and breaking Dakota Pechee's school record, which had stood since 2013. Bouchrak ran 8:41.90 which was over a second faster than Pechee's time of 8:43.04 in which he ran at the 2013 NCAA Championships. Bouchrak's time currently puts him in third place in the NCAA East Region in the event.
Chris Van Niekerk was named Big South Field Athlete of the Week. Van Niekerk finished in second place in the men's shotput with a throw of 17.86m. He also finished fifth in the men's discus with a mark of 52.94m.
Sydney Horn was named Big South Field Athlete of the Week. Horn won the women's pole vault with a second bar clearance at 4.40m at the Duke Invitational. Horn just missed in three attempts at 4.46m.
