The High Point University baseball team dropped a 5-2 decision to UNC Asheville on Tuesday afternoon. The Panthers dropped to 4-9 on the season ahead of Wednesday's contest with Pitt in High Point.Â

Sean Duffy kept Bulldog hitters in check through the first three innings, recording a strikeout in each inning and not allowing a runner past second base.

Brady Pearre started the Panther rally in the top of the third, as he singled up the middle and advanced to second on a wild pitch.
Javon Fields followed up with another single up the middle, scoring Pearre and giving HPU the 1-0 lead.

Fields stole second before
Blake Sutton and
Peyton Carr drew walks to load the bases, but a 6-4-3 double play ended the inning.

The Bulldogs answered in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two runs to take the lead.
Everett Vaughan relieved Duffy in the fifth, giving up one run on a single and a triple before recording his first strikeout of the day to end the inning. Asheville plated three more runs in the next two innings to take a 5-1 lead through six innings.

HPU scored a run in the top of the seventh as
Josh Deslauriers' RBI-single to right field scored
Justin Ebert, but the Panthers were unable to rally further to extend the game and pick up another win.
