The High Point University baseball team dropped both games in a Friday doubleheader in Lexington against the University of Kentucky. Cole Singsank led the way for the Panthers in game one going 3 for 3, with two singles and a stand up double.
Blake Sutton led the way for HPU in game two with a hit, two RBIs, and a run.Â

Game 1
The Wildcats were on the board first in the opening inning after a leadoff solo home run. A second run crossed the plate after a fly ball was hit deep into right field, which allowed the runner on third to tag up.Â
Kentucky extended their lead in the second inning to 3-0 with a blooper to left field to score the runner on third base. A two-run home run was then hit by Kentucky to extend their lead to 5-0.Â
Kentucky hit back-to-back stand up doubles in the bottom of the third, driving in 4 more runs to make it a 9-0 game.Â
A fifth inning grand-slam put the Wildcats ahead 13-0.Â
The Panthers were able to score a run in the top of the seventh inning as Charlie Klingler hit a ground rule double to score
Sam Zayicek. Klinger finished the day reaching base in all three plate appearances on the day.
Javon Fields kept the seventh inning rally going with a single up the middle to score Klinger and Brady Pearre and bring the score to 14-3.Â

Game 2
The Wildcats opened up the second game with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the first inning. They were able to add a second run off of a wild pitch that reached the backstop. A second inning triple brought the score to 4-0 in favor of the Wildcats. Kentucky drove in two more second inning runs with a two-run home run to take a 6-0 lead. Kentucky added a seventh run in the bottom of the fourth with a deep fly ball to left field, allowing the runner from third to tag up.Â
The Panthers cut the deficit to five runs when Blake Sutton hit a deep fly ball to left field which scored Brady Pearre and Charlie Klingler.
An infield single by Adam Stuart drove in
Javon Fields to bring the score to 7-3.Â
Sam Zayicek kept the rally going with a single to right field to bring in two more runs for the Panthers, but the Wildcats stopped the Panther momentum in the bottom of the sixth inning with a solo home run to bring the score to 8-5.
