HPU Falls to Campbell in Qubein Center on Saturday

Site: Qubein Center (High Point, N.C)

Score: High Point 42, Campbell 60

Records: High Point (11-14, 5-6), Campbell (14-9) (7-5)

HIGH POINT, N.C.—High Point men's basketball fell to Campbell, 60-42, in the Qubein Center on Saturday night. Emmanuel Izunabor led the way for HPU in scoring on the night with 10 points. Zack Austin had 11 rebounds in the contest.

GG Smith: It was a not very good display tonight of High Point basketball but I would like to give credit to Campbell. They came in and really defended us tonight. They did a good job on our big three (House, Wright, and Austin) they were six of 23 tonight and if that happens we are probably not going to beat very many people. Give Campbell credit they were tougher and more physical. I thought we came in a little too happy after the PC road win and when you do things like that and get a little complacent, stuff like this happens. We had a great crowd once again building off the great crowd we had last weekend I just wish we would have had a better performance.

Panther Particulars

John-Michael Wright put the Panthers on the board in a back and forth battle in the opening minutes of play.

Izunabor powered through to get the and-1 call and completed the three-point play.

Jaden House hit the jumper to bring the HPU lead to 11-6 with 11:49 remaining in the opening half.

Austin hit the first three-pointer of the game for HPU with 3:08 to go in the first half.

Izunabor slammed it home for two more Panther points in the final minute of the first half.

The Panthers entered the halftime break trailing Campbell 25-19. Izunabor led HPU in scoring in the opening half with 8 points.

The Camels opened up the second half with the first six points, but the Panthers were able to respond with back-to-back buckets by Alex Holt.

JMW put together a string of two baskets of his own with 11:41 remaining in the second half to bring the Panthers within 10 of the Camels.

Bryant Randleman sparked some late offense for the Panthers with a drive to the basket to bring the score to 53-41 with 2:53 left in the game.
