WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team fell to Wake Forest in Saturday night women's basketball action.
Skyler Curran led High Point with 19 points and nine rebounds while
Jordan Edwards tallied seven points and a team-high three assists.

Skyler Curran was hot from the start, scoring HPU's first nine points.
While the Panthers trailed 14-2 in the first quarter, HPU closed the quarter on a 4-0 run to pull back within 19-11.
High Point outscored the Demon Deacons 17-14 in the second quarter as
LaImani Simmons came off the bench for four quick points followed by a
Callie Scheier triple that brought the Panthers back within 25-18.
HPU trimmed the deficit to as low as four points as
Nakyah Terrell made two free throws as the Panthers closed the half on a 10-2 run.
Curran and Terrell combined for the first six points of the second half as HPU took its first lead, 34-33, with 8:26 remaining.
Two triples from Wake gave the Deacs the lead back, but another Curran make from beyond the arc put the Panthers back within one point, 39-38.
Scheier's second three-pointer of the night tied the game at 41 points apiece with 3:37 remaining in the third quarter, but Wake closed the quarter on a 10-0 run to hold the 51-41 lead.
The Demon Deacon defense held the Panthers scoreless for the first two minutes of the fourth period until
Jenson Edwards knocked down a step back jumper for her first points of the night. Edwards added a three-pointer to pull HPU within 57-48.
An 11-0 Wake Forest run over nearly six minutes held HPU at bay as the Deacs led by as many as 20 points with 44 seconds remaining.
Up Next: High Point returns to the Qubein Center on Wednesday night to take on North Carolina Wesleyan. The 7:00 p.m. tip-off will be the Panthers' last game ahead of the finals week break.
