SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The High Point University women's basketball team fell to Georgetown on Saturday afternoon, closing out play at the Puerto Rico Clasico.
Jenson Edwards led HPU with 19 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

While the Hoyas opened the game with eight straight points,
Callie Scheier put the Panthers on the board with her first three-pointer of the day. Georgetown added another bucket, but High Point used an 8-0 run of its own to take its first lead at 11-10.
Skyler Curran and
Nakyah Terrell each had three-pointers in the run while Curran also added a layup in the stretch.
Jenson Edwards scored five points in the last two minutes of the period before
Anna Häger found Curran slipping to the basket to give HPU the 18-17 lead at the quarter break.
Georgetown opened up the second quarter with layups on back-to-back possessions, but Edwards drove to the basket for a layup of her own before Häger knocked down a triple to put HPU back on top, 23-21.
Scheier tallied her second three-pointer of the day midway through the quarter before Edwards' driving layup gave the Panthers the 28-26 advantage with 3:36 to play in the half.
The Hoyas closed the half on a 6-2 run to take a slight 32-30 edge into the break.
Claire Wyatt opened up the third quarter with her first three-pointer and Edwards sank two free throws to keep HPU within 36-35. Another Curran three-pointer, her fourth of the day, at the 8:11 mark tied the game at 38.
Shakira Baskerville and Curran hit from deep on consecutive possessions to tie the game again at 44-44 at the media timeout with 4:50 remaining in the quarter. Curran spent the last half of the third quarter on the bench due to foul trouble.
Neither team was able to score until 1:30 remaining in the period when a Georgetown layup gave the Hoyas the lead. Edwards was fouled on a drive to the basket and made a free throw, but with time winding down, Georgetown sank a three-pointer to take the 49-44 lead with 10 minutes to play.
Edwards worked down low for a layup to open the fourth quarter, but Curran fouled out on the next possession. She finished with 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from deep with three assists.
Wyatt cut to the basket for an easy layup on an inbound from Terrell coming out of the media timeout.
A 5-0 run from the Hoyas continued to add the Georgetown lead, but a Scheier triple ended the run.
Edwards hit another triple with 1:10 remaining as HPU trailed, 63-55, and added two free throws after another Hoyas made basket.
Despite late pressure from the Panthers, Georgetown was able to keep HPU at bay with a minimum six-point cushion the rest of the way.
