Zach Haines: "Obviously happy with a win in the Big South, it's always great to get those three points with a good performance, different goal scorers, and different guys contributing. I loved a lot about the performance, but not the defending that led to a penalty against and one goal. But other than those two moments, which we'll work to clean up, I'm happy for the guys and proud of the mentality that they had from the very start of the game."
After a quiet opening 20 minutes, the Panthers were the first on the board as Holmes scored his first of the night from
Sebastian Chalbaud and
Brendan Krueger in the 21
st minute.
High Point kept the offensive pressure on, as
Davis Biggerstaff's free kick found
Karson Kendall for his first goal of his career.
Just over a minute later,
Larson Rula found the net, also his first as a Panther, on assists from
Aidan Abril and Krueger.
After a handball was called in the penalty area,
Holden Trent made one of his three saves of the night off the penalty kick to keep the Highlanders off the board in the first half.
Chalbaud added the fourth HPU goal of the night in the 57
th minute from Abril, his first of the season.
Holmes recorded the brace in the 60
th minute while
Cooper Lindfelt was credited with the assist.
Up Next: High Point travels to Raleigh when it meets NC State for a midweek matchup. Kickoff is set for 7:00 PM.
