CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. -- For the third year in a row, three members of the High Point University women's golf program were named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars, as announced by the WGCA Tuesday afternoon (July 6).
Â
Samantha Vodry and
Sarah Kahn have both been named WGCA All-American Scholars for each of the three years, with Vodry earning her fourth distinction in 2021. Joining them is
Vynie Chen, with her first appearance as a freshman.
Â
"The All-American Scholar award is such a testament to the overall dedication and talent of those players awarded," head coach
Alexis Bennett said. "Especially given the playing requirement and cumulative nature of the GPA threshold, it takes a lot of hard work and consistent play, especially to be a multi-year winner of this award. I'm extremely proud of these three!"
Â
To be nominated for WGCA All-American Scholar awards, student-athletes must have an overall GPA of 3.50 or higher for their entire collegiate career and have competed in 50% of the team's competitions for the school year nominated.
Â
This is High Point's fourth straight year with multiple WGCA All-American Scholars and brings Bennett's total up to 11 that she's coached at HPU. For the women's golf program as a whole, it brings the Panthers' total up to 38, dating back to the 2004-05 season.
