EUGENE, ORE—High Point University Track and Field's Sydney Horn will compete in the women's pole vault at the 2021 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon on Thursday at 7:00 PM Eastern. The freshman from Lancaster, Pa. will become just the second Panther to compete in both the NCAA Indoor Championships and NCAA Outdoor Championships in the same academic year joining Jemissa Hess who did it in 2005. Horn enters Thursday night with the fifth best mark in the country of 4.44m which she set at Big South Championships inside Vert Stadium.

How Did Horn Become Eugene Bound
Horn dramatically punched her ticket as she cleared 4.27m in her final attempt securing her spot in the pole vault at the 2021 NCAA National Championship in Eugene, Oregon.
Going Big in Texas
In just her second outdoor collegiate meet she cleared a bar of 4.41m at the Texas Relays. Horn's mark of 4.41m ranked her third in the nation at the time (March 28) the highest ranking of her young career. Horn cleared 4.01m, 4.16m, and 4.31m all in her first attempt then cleared 4.41m in her third attempt at the time setting a new school record she would later break at the Big South Outdoor Championships.
Sydney's Sensational First Year
The first highlight of Sydney's freshman season came in February of the Indoor season where she cleared a bar of 4.33m to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships. In March she competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships and jumped 4.41m finishing third and earning All-American honors.
She followed that up by going 4.41m at the Texas Relays in her second outdoor collegiate meet. Her biggest mark of the year so far came at the Big South Outdoor Championships where she went 4.44m setting a new program and Big South record while winning her first Big South individual championship.
Going To Eugene
Horn enters the National Championship meet as one of five freshmen out of 24 competitors in the pole vault. Her mark of 4.44m is the best of any freshman in the nation.
