Vodry and Kahn Earn All-Conference Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- High Point University women's golfers Samantha Vodry and Sarah Kahn have been named to the 2021 Big South All-Conference Team, the league announced Monday afternoon (April 19).

It's the second All-Conference honor for both golfers as both were on the 2019 All-Conference Team, the last year that the award was given out prior to this year, and is the third year-end award from the Big South for each as both were named to the All-Freshman Team during their respective freshman seasons. This makes 14 total All-Conference awards for the Purple and White since the program started in the fall of 2003, with six of those coming under head coach Alexis Bennett.

Vodry ends her career as one of High Point's top golfers in program history, leaving with program records for career wins (four), rounds in the 60s (nine), rounds of par or better (28), eagles (10), and birdies (318). This season she had an average score of 72.59 for a to-par average of 0.59, both of which are the best marks of any HPU golfer. Every one of her scores this season counted towards the team score and she recorded three of the nine-lowest individual rounds in program history this season.

The graduate student has a total of four of the top-nine single-round scores in program history, including her 65 from the final round of the River Landing Classic this year that is the second-best round in program history. She also has six of the top-10 54-hole scores in program history. Vodry won the final two tournaments of the season entering the Conference Championships to set the record with four career victories and became just the third golfer in program history to record multiple wins in the same season.

Kahn ended her season second in scoring and also had all of her rounds count towards the team score. Her scoring average of 73.49 is the second-lowest in program history's to Vodry's mark from this year and she now owns two of the top-three scoring averages and is the only golfer to average two shots over par or better in multiple seasons. She had six rounds of par or better this season to bring her career total up to 23, second on HPU's leaderboards only to Vodry.

The redshirt sophomore won the River Landing Classic this season with a total score of 203 for the only sub-210 event in program history. Her score of 139 through the first two rounds is tied for the program record and her final-round score of 64 is the lowest round that any Panther has recorded in a competition.
