Matchup History

  • HPU defeated Campbell 1-0 a season ago as Carsyn Gold scored the game-winning goal for the Panthers in the 20th minute of the contest.

Panther Notes

Big Winners

Sam Gerhart Recorded the conference's first hat trick since 2018 as she scored three against Winthrop. The sophomore led HPU to a 3-0 victory over the Eagles as she scored all three goals. The sophomore has exploded offensively early on in her second season; she has four goals already this season.

Alex Deperno created the play that led to Gerhart's second goal against Winthrop. Freshman center back Deperno won a ball in the defensive half and delivered a long ball over the top of the Eagle defense to Prillaman. Prillaman threaded a pass between two Eagle defenders to a cutting Gerhart. Deperno also helped the defense to its second straight shutout. Deperno and HPU held the Eagles to just four shots on goal and five total. Deperno and the defense only allowed one corner opportunity for Winthrop. She is the first freshman to win the Big South Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.

Brick Wall Defense

The Panthers are heading into the weekend after securing two clean sheets in as many games. The team has only surrendered nine shots in the previous two games, with only seven of those shots being on target. Morgan Hairston has been in goal for the Panthers making seven saves over the previous two contests.

Road Warriors

High Point has not lost a regular-season conference game on the road since October 23, 2018.

Across the Bench

  • Campbell is coming off of a 1-0 overtime victory against UNC Asheville. Cameron Turner scored in the last minute of the first overtime period to lift the Camels past the Bulldogs.
  • The Camels finished the 2019 season with a 13-4-2 record after falling in the Big South semifinal to Radford by a score of 3-2.
  • Campbell is led by Samar Azen who is in her fourth season as the head coach of the Camels.
