Forest Oaks Country Club
Forest Oaks opened in 1962 to wide acclaim and hosted the Greater Greensboro Open on the PGA Tour from 1977-2007 before the event moved to Sledgefiled Country Club and became the Wyndham Championship. The course was redesigned in 200 by Davis Love III's Love Design Group and features large and tiered greens. Due to heavy rains Friday night, the course will be playing wet and cold at a length of over 6,100 yards.
Format and Schedule
The teams will play a head-to-head match against each opponent, with the team with the best record at the end of the three rounds taking home the title. In the event teams tie, the most individual wins by that team will decide the winner. Two rounds will be played on Saturday before the event wraps up with a single round on Sunday. HPU starts the event with Central Michigan and then plays North Carolina A&T in the afternoon on day one before finishing with Appalachian State.
Last Time Out
High Point came in fourth place at the Strutter Gus Invitational earlier in the week, shooting the second-best final round of the event as a team to move up a spot on the leaderboard. Kahn and Vodry both finished inside the top 10, with Kahn taking home a share of fifth place and Vodry ending one stroke behind her in seventh.
Eagle Lead Extended
Vodry carded the ninth eagle of her career in the second round of the Strutter Gus Invitational, further extending her lead in the program's record books. She now has five more than Danielle Fuss's four and leads current teammate Kahn by six.
Match Play Prep
This weekend's tournament could play a key role in preparing the Panthers for the finals of the Big South Championship later this year. For the first time, the conference championship is switching to three days of stroke play and then two rounds of match play featuring the top four teams to decide the conference champion.
Up Next: High Point is back on the course in two Mondays (March 8) at the River Landing Classic in Wilmington, N.C., hosted by UNC Wilmington.
