The High Point University men's soccer team (7-6-3) will begin their postseason run this Wednesday night as they host the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner Webb (5-11-1) for the Big South Semifinal.
Matchup History with Gardner-Webb
HPU is 13-1-4 against the Bulldogs all-time since joining the Big South. The Panthers and the Bulldogs met once already this season in Boiling Springs. The Panthers came out on top with a 3-0 win. Alex Abril led the way for HPU with two goals. MD Myers also scored for the purple and white.
A look at the Runnin' Bulldogs
The Bulldogs punched the final ticket in the Big South tournament as they secured the sixth seed. Gardner-Webb is coming off of a 2-1 quarterfinal victory over third-seeded Longwood in Farmville on Sunday. The Bulldogs are led by Ryan Madondo with eight goals on the season.
Last Time Out
The High Point University men's soccer capped off the regular season last Wednesday with a 1-0 victory over UNC Asheville last Wednesday. Alex Abril scored the game winning goal for the Panthers in the 81st minute of play. Holden Trent and the Panther backline finished the Big South regular season conceding only one goal.

"The best part of the game tonight is another clean sheet. Giving up just one goal in Conference play this season is a big time achievement for the guys and it allowed us to gain some momentum heading into the tournament. We are excited to host the semifinal next Wednesday and look forward to getting a big crowd there to help us through."

The winner of Wednesday's semifinal matchup will advance to the Big South Final on Sunday afternoon. The game will be played at the highest remaining seed in the tournament.
