High Point University men's basketball hosts Furman on Tuesday (Nov. 30) at 7:00 PM. HPU has played a very home-friendly schedule to start the inaugural season of the Qubein Center with six out of its first eight games at home. 

Across The Bench

The Paladins started the 2021-22 season with a big road win at ACC opponent Louisville defeating the Cardinals 80-72 in overtime. The Dins snapped the Cardinals' 59-game winning streak in November home games, including a 46-0 mark in the KFC Yum! Center.

Furman was selected to finish second in the SoCon in both the coaches' poll and the media poll. Furman Guards Mike Bothwell and Alex Hunter were selected to the preseason all-conference team.

Furman is led by head coach Bob Richey who is in his fifth season as the head coach of the Paladins. During his time at the helm of the program, the Paladins have posted back-to-back 25-win seasons and claimed four straight 20-win seasons for the first time in school history. His .717 winning percentage ranks in the top 10 among active Division I head coaches.

Last Time Out

HPU secured a 90-60 victory over Chowan on Saturday afternoon in the Qubein Center. The Panthers were led by 10 three-pointers on the day, their second 10+ three-pointer game of the season. Jaden House and Alex Holt led the Panthers with 17 points each on the day, however, they were joined by two additional scorers in double figures for the Panthers. John-Michael Wright had 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists on the day, while Zack Austin had 11 points and 6 rebounds on the day. In total, the Panthers had 10 players who were able to get into the scoring column in the game versus Chowan.   
 

Place To Be

Mr. 1000

During the Legend's Classic John-Michael Wright eclipsed the milestone of 1000 points. The milestone came against Georgia State. JMW currently has 1,025 points after scoring 15 against Chowan. He currently sits tenth all-time in program history with 1025. He is twenty-one points away from surpassing Lorenzo Cugini in ninth. 

Koverman Makes Debut

Jake Koverman made his HPU debut on Saturday against Chowan the freshman from Severna Park, Maryland scored five points while bringing in a rebound and dishing two assists. 

Panther Dunk Counter

HPU has 18 dunks on the season so far. The Panthers recorded three in the game against Chowan with all three dunks coming from three different contributors. Wright, Austin, and Holt all added jams in the 90-60 victory over Chowan. 

A Jam You Gotta See To Believe

Non-Conference Play

High Point will play 14 non-conference games in total, nine of them taking place inside the beautiful Qubein Center in its inaugural season and the other five occurring on the road. Four of the Panthers' five opponents on the road are Power-Five teams.
