RADFORD, Va.-- The High Point University men's soccer defeated Radford 2-0 in a Big South Weekend match on the road on Saturday night (Oct. 16). Sebastian Chalbaud scored the first goal of the night in the second half while MD Myers provided the second goal on the night late in the second half.

Zach Haines: "Proud of the team tonight. We were very good on both sides of the ball. Staying unbeaten in the big south heading into the final stretch of the season is where we aimed to be. We just need to keep the momentum going by coming to work every day and continuing to get better."

Panther Particulars

HPU pressured the Highlanders early with two quick shots to start the game as Chalbaud fired off a shot in just the second minute of the game and caused the Highlander keeper to make an incredible shot. Myers kept the pressure on Radford with a shot in the 4th minute which also caused a Radford to save.

Alex Abril recorded a shot in the 21st minute as HPU began to outshoot the Highlanders 4-0.

The shot count continued to climb for the Purple & White. Chalbaud already had four shots in the 32nd.

Holden Trent made a save late in the first half on Radford's first shot of the night. Trent kept the game locked at halftime 0-0.

A shot from both Chalbaud and Abril came in the 51st minute both were unable to connect.

HPU kept the pressure on as Mason Marcey's corner found Finn McRobb but it was shot just high.

HPU's hard work and persistence would pay off as in the 64th minute High Point scored its first goal of the night as Marcey put a picture-perfect corner in, and Chalbaud slammed it home from the doorstep. 1-0.

In the 81st minute, HPU added the insurance goal they were seeking as Myers scored with a little help from Trent who found MD who finished giving HPU the goal advantage.

HPU went on to win 2-0 over a Big South foe in Radford.
