High Point travels to the West Coast to compete in the 2021 Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational in Tacoma, WA. The tournament is hosted by Seattle University and will take place on October 11-12. The tournament is named after legendary women's golfer, Pat Lesser-Harbottle, who is a Seattle University alumnus and the 1955 US Women's Amateur Champion.
The Field
High Point is the only school east of the Mississippi to be a part of this select field. The remainder of the field includes Arkansas Little Rock, Boise State, Cal Baptist, Cal State Fullerton, Cal State Northridge, Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho, Idaho State, Montana, North Dakota State, Portland State, Sacramento State, Santa Clara, UC Irvine, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah Valley, Washington (individuals) and Weber State.

Tacoma Country & Golf Club
Tacoma Country & Golf Club was founded in 1894 and moved to its current location in 1905 on the shores of the American Lake. The original architect is unknown, but John Steidel is credited with carrying out a major renovation of the layout, including the addition of three new holes in the mid 1980's. This tree-lined tract will play as a par-72 and at 6,020 yards. Each nine finishes with a strong par 5 close to the clubhouse. Tacoma Country & Golf Club has hosted a number of national USGA tournaments for female golfers including the 1961 US Women's Amateur, the 1984 us Senior Women's Amateur, and the 2007 US Girls' Junior Championship in 2007.
Format and Schedule
The Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational is a two-day tournament with 36 holes played on the first day and 18 holes played the second day. Play begins Monday (October 11) with a shotgun start at 8:00am for HPU. Tuesday (Oct. 12) will also be a shotgun start at 8:00am.
Last Time Out
High Point competed in their first of two events in the Piedmont Triad area. High Point finished in 11
th place in the 2021 Bryan National Collegiate.
Return Trip to Tacoma
The Panthers participated in the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational during the COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 season. High Point finished in a tie for 11
th place with current Panther
Sarah Kahn finishing in a tie for 10
th place overall.
UP NEXT
High Point will compete in the second home event in the Triad area this fall at the 2021 Grandover Fall Classic. The tournament will be hosted by UNCG in Greensboro, NC on November 1
st and 2
nd.
