HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Former High Point University Panther and current Houston Astro
Andre Scrubb has seen a strong start to his major-league career, totaling seven appearances through his first two weeks, all without conceding an earned run.
Â
The right-handed pitcher made his debut on July 28 against the Dodgers, going 2.2 innings and giving up two hits with two strikeouts and a trio of walks. Scrubb's debut has been the only time the Woodbridge, Va. native has given up multiple hits in a single game so far. Scrubb notched his first career save in his second outing three days later, pitching the ninth inning against the Angels while picking up another strikeout to preserve the 9-6 victory for Houston.
Â
So far in August, Scrubb has taken the hill five times and thrown a total of five innings, while striking out five. He's only given up two hits on the month and put together three hitless outings in a row, pitching against the Angels, Diamondbacks, and Athletics.
