HIGH POINT, N.C. - High Point University track and field returns to Charlottesville, Va. this week, competing in the Virginia Grand Prix on Friday and Saturday.

Action at Lannigan Field kicks off at 4 PM on Friday, but the Panthers' weekend begins at 6 PM with the women's javelin, where newcomers Abby Bottomley and Jenna Weidner will be making their HPU debuts.

The Panthers will be sending a total of 25 athletes to Charlottesville this week, competing alongside some of the strongest competition in the southeast region. In addition to No. 16/17 North Carolina A&T (W/M) and No. 23 Virginia (M), ACC members Virginia Tech, North Carolina and Duke are all expected to be in attendance, as well as Big South foes Radford and Hampton.

Meet/Facility History
• This is the second straight year the Panthers have competed in the Virginia Grand Prix, after sending a pair of athletes to last year's meet
• HPU competed in Charlottesville just this past week, with junior Zoe Geis setting a new program record in the 10,000m (34:53.92) during the Virginia Challenge

Last Time Out
• Zoe Geis earned the Panthers' third straight Big South Women's Track Athlete of the Week honor for her performance in Charlottesville, she currently ranks 33rd in the NCAA East
• Siro Pina Cardona took fifth in the Duke Invitational 800m this past Saturday, his season-best time of 1:50.63 currently sits just outside a spot for regionals
• Geis was not the only HPU athlete to grab a qualifying mark in Charlottesville, as Famke Heinst's 10:20.93 in the 3000m steeplechase sits 15th in the east
• The Panther men currently hold the top Big South mark in four different events this year, while the women own seven
