"It was a tough win tonight" Head coach Ryan Meek said. "We knew Hampton was a lot better than they had been in the past, they were physical and athletic and were able to match us at the net. I think it took us some time to get used to that, we fought and I think a common theme of this team is that we fight even if things don't look great, even if things aren't going well for us our way we figure out a way to stay in the match and make some plays and pull out the win."

Hampton got within as many as two once the Panthers past 10 points but HPU continued to protect their lead. A 6-2 run at the end of the set allowed the Panthers to claim the 1st set 25-19.  High Point's freshmen continue their excellent play, Kaley Rammelsberg led the way in kills for HPU with 4 kills in the set.
