RADFORD, Va. -- High Point University men's soccer team overcame a second half deficit to earn a 3-1 win on Saturday (Oct. 26) evening at Radford University. The Panthers were led with a pair of goals by Ilias Kosmidis to stay unbeaten in Big South Conference.

"We showed a lot of character tonight to come back from 1-0 down in some adverse conditions," said head coach Zach Haines. "We made a mistake in the first few minutes of the second half, but responded well with two quick goals. I loved how our guys continued to push to get the third and kill the game off, which they did in style with a great team goal. Then after the third, we were extremely solid and closed the game out really well. Our staff is proud of this group and the strong mentality they have built over the course of the season."

After a Highlander goal in the first minute of the second half, Kosmidis got his first goal in the 59th minute to tie the game at one apiece. The senior Greece native dribbled past multiple Radford defenders into the box and put a finishing touch on it from 10 yards out.

The eventual-game winner occurred four minutes later off a Panthers corner kick, which came into the box and bounced off a Radford defender for an own goal.

Kosmidis' brace came in the 84th minute off an assist from classmate Jonathan Bolanos - who received a pass from down the ride side from Jordan Lonchar - bested his defender and put cut ball back to Kosmidis, who tucked it past the keeper from eight yards. Kosmidis now leads the team with five goals on the season.

High Point's lone shot in the first half came from Jonathan Bolanos in the 17th minute. The Panthers had several other chances, with two corners in the half, but could not capitalize.

Redshirt senior Keegan Meyer made four stops in the win, yielding his first goal in the last three games.

HPU will return to Vert Stadium next Saturday (Nov. 2) to host the only other undefeated Big South team, Campbell. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
