HIGH POINT, N.C. -- The High Point University men's soccer team dropped a highly competitive matchup against Campbell 2-1 on senior night (Nov 2). The lone Panther goal was scored by senior Jonathan Bolanos in the 34th minute.

The first half was full of up and down action with each team producing quality chances. The game took on a chaotic and quick pace and would maintain that for much of the evening.

The Panthers had a great opportunity 16 minutes in as Bolanos crossed it in for Lonchar, Campbell's goalkeeper Lechuga got it out of harms away and kept the game scoreless. Campbell was able to eliminate the Panthers' quality chance even when it was highly chaotic in the box.

Campbell almost got on the board first in the 18th minute as Keegan Meyer was tested by Campbell's Thibaut and had to make a very athletic play to make the stop.

As the first half continued on, the Fighting Camels continued to apply offensive pressure on the Panther defense. Campbell would strike first in 33rd minute to go up 1-0 on the road. The Panthers immediately showed their resilience answering in less than 90 seconds.

Senior Jonathan Bolanos scored the equalizer on senior night in the 34th minute. The senior was assisted by freshman Jordan Lonchar. It was the third goal of the season for Bolanos and the 15th of his career.

As the first half was winding down, Campbell was able to strike again in the 43rd minute to go up 2-1.

HPU improved their offensive production in the second half, after being limited to just two shots in the first half, the Panthers recorded 7 shots in the second half. HPU put together several quality chances in the second half. The Panthers tested Campbell's defense tremendously and they were able to answer and maintain their lead.

In the 62nd minute, Kosmidis nearly broke the tie as his shot bounced off of Lechuga's chest and the shot rolled just wide of the post. The Panther's offensive flurry would continue as High Point began to apply tremendous offensive pressure on Campbell's defense.

High Point's best chance to tie the game came in the 72nd minute as Ryan Inman expertly fired a shot that required Lechuga to make a diving save. Bolanos sent in another shot off the deflection but Lechuga would make another stop.

The Fighting Camels would hold on to win 2-1. High Point has clinched the second seed in the Big South Tournament. HPU's owns the tiebreaker over Gardner Webb courtesy of their 1-0 win on October 12th.

The Panthers celebrated Six seniors: Josh Baker, Ilias Kosmidis, Siggi Benonysson, Ryan Inman, Jonathan Bolanos, and Keegan Meyer, the winning-est Recruiting Class in the program's history. They are the only program in the Big South to win double-digit games in each of the last 4 seasons. They are two-time Big South Conference Regular Season Champions in 2017 and 2018. All six were members of the 2018 team that hosted the NCAA Tournament game last season, the first team in HPU history to host an NCAA Tournament game in any sport. They were members of the first men's team in the institutions' history to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Up Next: High Point hosts USC Upstate on Wednesday (Nov 6.) at 7pm.
